Gas Fire Pit Safety 101

Fire Pit Safety starts before you purchase, ensuring you and your family will be setting this up and using it in the right way is crucial to using your table in a safe and effective way.

At Fire Pit Outfitters, we only sell CSA Approved fire tables which certifies that a product has been independently tested and certified to meet recognized standards for safety or performance within Canada.

Propane and Natural Gas fire tables are a great way to keep a fire maintained and controlled in comparison to a natural fire. Gas fire pits do not emit sparks or smoke the same way a traditional wood fire does. Gas is also regulated to keep just the right amount streaming through to your element, meaning that it is fueled just right for a safe amount of fire.

Fire Pit Safety is something that should be thought about before you bring the fire home.

Selecting the right position for your table:

- Make sure that the ground is level

- Keep fires at least 5-6 feet away from any plant or shrubbery

- Make sure you observe any local restrictions or guidelines from your strata or council

- Never operate these tables in an enclosed space or under a low overhanging roof or tree

Safety Guidelines:

- Guidelines should be introduced so that the table is used in a safe manner

- Consider a windscreen to stop young children putting objects in to the fire

- Consider whether you would like to have a easy gas shut off or whether you will shut the gas off manually after each use to make sure it doesn't get turned on.

- Heavier chairs and attached cushions can help to stop objects from falling into the fire

- Use the electric ignition where you can

Refer to the easy-to-read user manual for full instructions on how to set up your fire table, ignition is simple: open the gas source, press the sparker, and ignite!
